How do I delete downloads in progress and others I just don't need anymore?

I have a 7 inch RCA tablet and its an android. I tried to delete the dowloads manually without success. Is therev an ap thatg I can try to use to get rid of the "junk" in my downloaded files?

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Downloads app, long-press one of the files, and either tap the garbage can icon to delete it, or multi-select all files and then tap the garbage can.

If you're having trouble with that, use a file manager app like ES File Explorer to navigate to the /storage/sdcard0/download directory and delete the files that way.

I struggled with this for ages then fell on the answer which is easy peasy Go to DOWNLOADS and you should get a list of yours. Long press one you want to delete and you should get a dustbin at the top right of the page. Click the dustbin-----gone!
