How do i disassociate whatsApp from my phone number ?

I previously registered one of my phone numbers with whatsapp but I dont use that number anymore and I still see whatsapp associated with that number.

I dont want people to see my number is associated with whatsapp in their contacts and try to call me on whatsapp when its not in use.

I dont want to delete whole account as I have messages i want to keep.

In the Whatsapp settings (open the app - 3-dot menu in the top right - settings) open the Account section and you can change your number from there. There is only a change option, no remove as I believe you MUST have a phone number associated with the account.

I have already than that but in another phone when i look at that phone number as someone else would be doing, i still see the number is associated with whatsapp.

So, someone could be looking at my old number thinking im still on whatsapp on that old number
