How do I download mp4 movies or watch .avi movies on Evo?

I bought the Evo on Friday and am thrilled with what I've experience so far. However, I am still disappointed in the movie/tv show viewing. I went to the Spring store and asked a sales representative, but he claimed that he had "no idea how to watch movies". Not only do I not believe him, but I still can't figure it out. If anyone can answer just one of these questions, I would really appreciate it.
1. I downloaded a TV show in .avi format and transferred it to my microSD card. However, I none of the apps I have found support it. Are there any out there?
2. Is there an easy way to download movies/shows in mp4 format for viewing on Act 1 or whatever player one has?
3. Does Sprint have any factory apps? I have watched a few shows on Sprint TV and I am very very unimpressed with the picture quality... definitely not as advertised.

Try out the pc program "DoubleTwist" to convert/sync your movies.

The Evo should play movies encoded for ipod/iphone playback just fine. I think its .m4V Those are pretty easy to find. I won't get into how. If you need to convert your own movies use Handbrake and use the ipod touch iphone option.

Handbrake is you friend. Select your file, select ipod preset, and off you go. If your technically capable you can go in an select the proper resolution for a better picture since the ipod is much lower res.

Just discovered today that I just need to change the extension form .mp4 to .m4v on my videos and I'm good to go.

I use this app called Rock Player (Demo player) to play avi files, I havent had luck with m4v It wouldnt play from the stock video player or demo player.
