How do I enable voicemail notifications on my Samsung Galaxy a51?

I have a Galaxy a51 and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get voicemail notifications.. By notifications I'm talking about the little symbol when I get a voicemail.. I've been having to call my voicemail to see if I have any and it's quite annoying.. I've Googled and looked on YouTube and can't find anything.. It's driving me crazy! I know that there's got to be a way to fix this.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. TIA!

Open your carrier vm app, select notifications.

Which carrier? Long press the phone app then tap info>go to notification>tap voice mail to take you to another menu

The notifications on the app are turned on but when I go through my phone settings it doesn't allow me to turn on the notifications even if I turn them off in the app

Straight Talk and no I don't think that I am

Ok , let's try something , maybe a glitch in the phone app , long press it then tap info and now go to storage clear data and then force stop it and see if that helps .

That wasn't it.. I talked to someone from Samsung support and she said it's a carrier issue and to reach out to them
