How do I force sync Facebook to my phone?

I haven't been able to use Facebook messenger, when connected to mobile data for months. It works on wifi only (same as snapchat & instagram). I've gone through all of my settings and have found that my accounts settings will not sync Facebook. It just won't give the option. Does anyone have any ideas how I can change this?

Welcome to Android Central! I don't think sync is the issue. It's normal to see your Facebook account in Settings>Accounts with no option to sync. In the past, when it was possible to sync your Facebook contacts to your phone's Contacts app, you might have seen Contacts under the Facebook account and a sync button, but Facebook took that feature away a while ago.

Are you saying that FB Messenger won't let you send FB chat messages alone on mobile data, or does it also not work for SMS (if you use it for that)? Does everything else work normally on mobile data?
