How do I get and .apk?
I have a Thunderbolt and a Xoom. One app is available on the Thunderbolt but not on the Xoom. I would like to try the app on the xoom. It's available on the Galaxy tab 10.1 so I think it should work.
Problem is I can't get the app to download on the xoom.

So how do I get the apk?

Most apps in the Market have a "Visit developer website" link. Go to their website and download apk to your desktop, then transfer to your device.

I have tried that but can''t find it there.
This is the "Marine: US West" marine chart app.

Is there some way to save the apk before you install it on your phone?

Are you rooted? If so, you can use "Astro" free in the market to backup apps. It will backup apps to a folder on your SD card>"backups", from there you can transfer the apk to your device.

No, I'm not Rooted.
I do have Astro and did a back up. Can I do this without rooting?
The rooting process for the Thunderbird is still somewhat complicated.
