How do i get an mp4 file to show up in gallery app?

i put an mp4 file on my device (transferred via usb) and have tried moving it to the downloads folder, videos folder and movies folder and it doesn't show up in the video app in any of the folders! how do i get it to show up?

(It plays when i click it from the astro (file viewer) app. )

Thanks, that did it! (Kind of stupid that it takes a restart though. I should be able to restart just the app and have it show up)

Dumb, I know, but sometimes I've seen when transferring large files, the phone won't read from the card until you do a reboot. I've never tried it, but theoretically, unmounting and remounting your card from the settings screen should do the same thing.

Edit: Apparently AC censors the word "r etard" lol. Initially tried to say "r etarded, I know..."

I think once you connect the usb to computer and the android phone you have to click on "connected as a media device" on the notification pull down. Once there you have to select MTP instead of PTP. It seems like PTP will only read images while MTP which is media device can read images and mp4 video files.
