How do I get my Moto G 2nd Gen out of a boot loop?

Moto G 2nd Gen Boot Issues

Hi,
My moto g crashed the other day then got stuck in a boot loop. After charging it I think it booted but was unplugged by someone prematurely and is now seemingly broken. I can access the little blue menu (normal boot, recovery, factory etc) but when selecting anything the android in distress logo appears for about half a second then goes off. This then repeats until I turn the device off, the same happens when I charge it.

Any advice would be helpful

Welcome to Android Central! Does it stay on for longer if it's plugged into a wall outlet? I wonder if the battery failed.
