How do i get my phone notification settings right?

So basically what I want to have, is no phone calls or notifications showing on my screen or lock screen.
I would like to only have the app icon showing the number of notifications in the bubble on the app.
I've tried numerous setting combinations but nothing seems to work.
Can you help?

Depends on what your phone is exactly, but most phones nowadays you can go to settings, look for lockscreen settings, and turn off notifications on lockscreen altogether
