How do I get my Sony LED TV to display full screen images from my Samsung phone in Landscape mode

I connected my Samsung S5 to my Sony LED tv through a Powered HDMI adapter. But images are all displayed on the screen in portrait mode on the tv, no matter the settings or the orientation of the phone. Even if I change the rotation of the image in the photo edit mode, still get a small landscape view. What I see is photos only 1/3rd or less the size of the screen. This is no better than viewing on my laptop. How do I get full screen images

Is there a setting option for your TV? Otherwise, I doubt you'll be able to change its orientation.
