How do I get out of a group text message on the galaxy note 5?

I'm included in a group text with 19 other people. How do I get out of the group message?

Welcome to the forums. I doubt something as simple as deleting the thread will work, but give it a try.

You cant try clicking on the group and then going under conversation settings and tapping leave group. But i think that's only if you started it. Idk.

Sadly it does not. I get group messages from friends sending stupid spammy stuff all the time and removing myself from the group does nothing. As soon as someone replies to the group message, bam I'm right back where I started. This is beyond frustrating and I can't believe there isn't a single viable solution to the problem, seeing as how it can get expensive for people who don't have unlimited text and picture messages.
