I can't get out of a group text

You'll probably just have to tell the people to remove you. Even if you delete it from your phone, anytime somebody else in the group replies to the entire group message you will receive it again.

With the current SMS system, there is no way to leave a group text.
The only option is to have the other people start a new group conversation without you in it.

Some of the high-end third-party SMS apps have the option of putting the individual thread on "ignore" so that while the messages still come in to your phone, that conversation does not generate notifications.
