How do I get the carrier being mentioned on my phone twice off?

same carrier mentioned twice

even though there is one sim card in Huawei p8 lite phone,it displays same carrier twice on the status bar,how to get rid of that?

Yes, it is a dual sim phone but only one sim is used.

Go to Settings>Wireless & Networks, and see if there are any Dual SIM Settings. If so, are you able to disable one of the SIM slots?

It may just be some peculiarity of the phone's firmware. If you insert a 2nd SIM, I assume it displays the two different carriers correctly, yes?

Turns out It's an issue with the sim card not the phone.

Well that's weird. I wonder how a bad SIM would tell the phone that both SIM slots are occupied by a card from the same carrier, even when the 2nd slot was empty?

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have the same phone and the same problem? The OP said it was a problem with the SIM card, and solved it by getting a new SIM.

Huawei actually allows you to remove multiple items from the status bar, including the carrier name. While it wouldn't have helped in the case above, if someone just wanted to remove the carrier name from their status bar it's an option.
