adding email address to opening screen

My S5 Active would not update for whatever reason. I did a complete reset and then completed a successful update. When my phone was originally set up with my phone service provider (AT&T) it was recommended that I put an email address on the first screen that appears immediately with launch, just in case the phone is lost and someone wishes to contact me. I thought this a good idea and did that. I lost that with the update and would once again like to put an email address on that initially-seen screen. I don't know if the latest release of Android supports that, or if it does, how it enable that.
Suggestions/help???

Thanks,

Re: adding email address to opening screen

Hello! Welcome to Android Central! I think you should be able to go to settings>>accounts and add your account there. Did you enter a gmail address the first time? If so, it should give you the option to set that email as your backup and recovery email.

Go to: Settings > Security > Device security > Lock screen message and enter whatever you like - a message with a phone number, email address, reward offer, etc.
