How to import from Sony PC Companion to Samsung

I'm REALLY hoping that someone can help me. I switched from the Sony Xperia Z3 to the Samsung G7 tonight. Before heading out I did a back up with PC Companion but at the store, I traded in my phone and they wiped it.

I want to get my contacts and calendar stuff from the back up...I can only seem to find steps to switch TO an Xperia, and not the other way around....

Re: How to import from Sony PC Companion to Samsung

Were your contacts and calendar events only saved to the local Phone account, rather than your Google account? If you use your Google account, it's much easier, because you can access all of that data in the cloud as well. Go to contacts.google.com on your computer browser, and see if your contacts are there. And check the Google Calendar website to see if your events are there. If they are, then they'll sync automatically to the new phone once you log in with your Google account there.

If you saved all of this data to the local Phone account only, and If PC Companion only works with Sony phones, then you might have to find a cheap used Xperia phone somewhere that is compatible with PC Companion, and restore to that phone. Once you restore that data, you could then export the contacts to a .csv file, and then import them in to your Google Contacts. You can export your calendar events as well and import them into Google Calendar.

Thank you for your reply! Only some of my stuff was there when I signed into Google.

I ended up going back to the store, getting the phone I traded in and restoring everything from my lap top onto it..then doing the Smart Switch from phone to phone. Thankfully the store let me do it , hiding in their corner, they even helped do it. Lesson learned!!!!

Ok, whew! As you have probably guessed, I'm a big proponent of saving data to your Google account, rather than just having it on the phone. So I would encourage you to transition as much as you can (e.g., contacts, calendar events, etc.) to your Google account.
