How do I keep my contacts, if I'm going to root(Nexus6)

I would like to root my Nexus 6, and really the only things I care about are my contacts, is there any way of keeping them, programs and or methods.

I think you should enable google contact sync on your gmail account.

Correct.
Your GMail account holds all your contacts and once you sign in on your device, it will sync it all up.

If you have to ask this question, maybe root isn't for you!?

You can also go into Messenger and go into the menu and select "export to file". It will create a file called contacts.vcf. Then just copy it to a pc or whatever. Then you can import it if you ever needed to.
