I have some pics that I don't want automatically added to the gallery. Is there a way I can keep them from showing up?

First u have to move the pix/videos to a folder on your sdcard..when naming the folder start with a . First.this will hide the folder and files in that folder..the folder Must start with . First...example( .pictures).....to find this folder later go into...... my files>more>setting>show hidden folders...

Another solution is to add a empty text file with name ".nomedia" to the folder where pictures reside. Good thing is, pictures wont show up in your gallery app, bad thing is if the folder has some other kind of media like music etc, it wont show up in the library either.

I have the same problem, but seems like the solution is not as simple for it. Gallery app shows all the album art from my music folder. Open the Gallery app and it is littered with the folders containing those album art pictures. Now one answer could be to embedd that art in mp3 files, which seems simple but not easy to do over thousands of songs. Doing the .nomedia trick doesnt work, since then my music vanishes from my music app library. If you know of any solution, please share!!

My album art is named "AlbumArt_{stream of letters and numbers}_Large" because it was downloaded by Zune and it does not show up in my Media viewer. I would try simply renaming them "AlbumArt" or "Folder" and see if this helps.

Thanks, I will try that.

I spent days using Tag Scanner (free for pc) to embed all the ID3 data on my files, including album art. I was also able to rename all my files to similar naming conventions. Tag Scanner made it very easy, although time consuming. It works with videos as well.

In my "Gallery", I'm not seeing the album art for the audio files, however some of my video files are seperated out by other ID3 tag data (album, artist), instead of being in the "video" folder.

Hey thanks for the no .nomedia tip helped a bunch! But your right it doesnt work after you use it a few times weird :/

No problems on mine with the .nomedia file. I had to find one elsewhere on the phone and copy it because Windows won't allow a nameless file to be created.
