How do I keep the music going?

I was playing music using the standard player. I hit the <home> button and the music stopped.

What do I have to do to keep music playing in the background?

have you looked through the settings mate? i use a different music player (poweramp) so im not sure but it should be an option

Yes, I have looked - but I can't see anything.

I'll load a different app and see what it does. But it seems a bit crazy to me that the standard app can't work in the background.

It's supposed to work in the background. I'm listening to music at the moment and no problem.
