How do I lock my Galaxy S5 screen in landscape mode?

I am 'chromecasting' NFL Mobile app to my TV - problem is that chromecast displays EXACTLY what is on my screen.

1) The primary issue is that no matter how I position the phone physically, it keeps switching its rotation - I would obviously like it in landscape so it displays full screen on my TV

2) Ideally I would like to be able to turn off my screen and save battery but this is not nearly as important as issue #1 as if that worked I could just plug it in in the other room.

I have already tried the screen rotation in the menu bar - that only seems to work for vertical (normal) mode or at least not in a media player.

Have you tried the screen rotation buttion in the notificationbar?

Yes - I apologize I should have mentioned that. That only seems to work to keep it vertical. Or at least it will not work for media.
