I remember reading that that function was taken out? Adaptable storage I believe it was called.

My Nokia 3.1 Android 8.1 doesn't have that capability anywhere in the normal User Interface. Maybe some techie genius has a way by getting into the Android internals. But it seems that the most knowledgeable techies in the smartphone and Android forums are in agreement that relying on any SD card is unwise because they are not built to withstand the duty cycle required for primary memory and often fail. Of course I learned these things after I made the purchases.
