How do I move my phone past the startup screen?

my Samsung galaxy s4 is stuck on the orange screen that says verizon on it. Can not power it down unless batter is removed

The normal "repair" for that is to reflash the ROM ([Samsung] How to flash Stock ROM via ODIN), but that voids the warranty if you still have one. (If you do, just bring it to a Verizon store. If you have insurance, put in a claim.)

It's also possible that it's a hardware failure, which would mean a new motherboard or an insurance claim (the price would probably be about the same).
