How do i not get cheated - Rezound

can you clarify? This was $300 with a contract, right? Not just the phone? If you bought it from someone for $300 by itself, then you may have been scammed.

I may be wrong, but the info that I get from corporate stores is that VZ will not give you a replacement. Since you got it from someone other than a Corp store you need to take it to where you bought it. Verizon will service a phone you bought from them, but other than than that, the manufacturer or the store you bought it from needs to take are of the replacement.

On a different note, if the store you bought it from is an authorized reseller, then VZ may want to know about their unethicical practices

This post makes the most sense in regard to replies. I don't believe Verizon is responsible for another party selling a defective phone. Might be wrong, but it sure does not make sense to me.
However, another route might be to contact HTC directly and see if they will repair or replace. If it is a manufacturing defect, they should. If the store dude broke it, make him replaced it!

One of my Costco Rezound's arrived with hot pixels, I called Verizon about reactivating my Droid and they asked if i wanted a refurbished Rezound with overnight shipping but I declined the offer. So I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a Verizon direct replacement.

bring the phone back and have them return it and then go to another retailer like best buy or vzw corp store and make sure they reverse your upgrade before you leave

From what I understand, these 3rd part affiliates maintain contracts with the carrier who's phones they are selling. VZW has money invested in any store that sells VZW phones and contracts (probably not literally invested).

Strange thing is the used to be quite cutthroat about customers who signed up via auth. retailers during the first contract period. They would laugh you out of the corp. stores if you sought help. They'd tell you to pound salt and go back to the AR for help. Now it seems like they abandoned that policy by most accounts I've read in recent times.

Actually, you are incorrect. This has nothing to do with my Rezound but a previously owned phone. I purchased said phone from an auth. dealer and it was defective. I took it back and they gave me another one with a different issue. I took it back and swapped for a different model phone completely. Believe it or not, it had issues as well. Mind you, these are cosmetic issues, these are issues that make the phones not work properly. Finally, I called Verizon and told them of my troubles not that the auth. dealer wouldn't help me but I keep getting defective phones from them. Verizon sent me a phone, renewed my contract to the date they sent it and told me to return everything i got from the auth dealer back to the dealer.

Always, deal with Verizon. Auth dealers don't always have the means to help you resolve your issues.

This is the exact reason I deal only with corporate Verizon stores. Eliminate any confusion of a middle man.

Very sorry to hear. I know that this question comes up "what if I buy my phone from xyz store or on-line?" I guess some people have luck following up at a corp VZ store as I see them post as such. I'm sorry you didn't, and perhaps some will search this question in the future and find this post.

While it's not the best solution, will HTC swap it out for you, since you are the original purchaser?

That's not what you want to do. They just laugh you out the doors. You need to call Vzw Corp., not a store. Call a CSR @ Big Red, they will be able to help sort the problem out if the AR is unwilling to assist you.

ya i went to the store first to see if they can help me since a person recommended in the previous comments. I will call the vzw company now..

I would, but I didn't want to pay an additional $250 to buy direct from Verizon.

Stores seem more interested in selling than helping customers at least from my experience.
