How do I open up an attachment on HTC1M8 in SMS?

How do I open up an attachment on HTC1M8 in SMS

When I try to open it merely says, "Attachments- SAVE". Save where? Why not just open?

Welcome to Android Central! It probably needs to be downloaded first before it can be opened. The save location is probably the main Downloads folder.
