How did you delete the photos? If you did it in the Google Photos app, then open it, swipe in from the left, scroll down, and select Trash. Are they there?
You probably know this already, but in the future, either turn on Google Photos Auto Backup, or make it a habit to backup your important photos to your computer hard drive on a regular basis. Smartphone flash memory does not last forever.
