How do I reformat 2.2 to get rid of root

Im having issues with phone, phone is rooted on 2.2 and I want to reformat back to stock 2.2. I tried factory restore with no luck phone still rooted. How can I get around this I want to unroot and cant? Thanks for the help

Sounds like you're spending your day the same way that I am. Everything is running fine on my phone, just more of an irritant that I have the SU icon and can't use it.

I believe you have to SBF. Not sure if the partial SBF will remove root.
