How to remove symbol at the top of the screen of two arrows.

Since my Samsung s5 ha been updated at tge top of the screen there is symbol of two horizontal arrows pointing in opposite directions. Does anyone know what this is for/means and if the symbol can be removed?

I've already disabled the auto software update function.

Thanks

can you post a picture of the icon? It might be the mobile data indicator...

Also check if you have VoLTE activated.

Re: How to remove symbol at the top of the screen of two arrows.

The arrows indicate that your calls, texts and data are going through 4G/LTE. To remove the arrows you will need to turn off 4G/LTE by going to...

Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Network mode > turn of 4G/LTE by selecting, "WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)"

Alternatively, you can root your device and install xposed framework.

Does that work on VZW?

The first suggestion you can easily try yourself.

The alternative suggestion won't work on Verizon phones that are running the latest firmware as they are unrootable.

That step is to turn on GSM? VZW uses CDMA. My phone has no option for cdma only

Open the phone app and go into settings/call you can turn voLTE off from in there. Turning 4G off in mobile setting will do just that you wouldn't be able to use 4G for data either.
