How to retrieve lock screen photo

I have a photo on my Samsung Galaxy S6 lock screen that I cannot find anywhere in the gallery so I must have deleted it. Is there any way that I can download it or save it somehow as it's very sentimental to me.

Re: How to retrieve lock screen photo

Welcome to Android Central! This is a photo you took at some point? Do you ever use Google Photos Auto Backup? If so, the photo is probably somewhere in your Google Photos library in the cloud--look through there.

Otherwise, use a file manager app to look through as many directories as you can on the phone (or connect to the computer via USB and use Windows Explorer). If you can't find it, then the image that the system is using is likely on a protected system directory that you can't access on an unrooted phone.

One thing to try would be to connect to your computer via USB, open Windows Explorer, and use the Import Pictures and Videos option. This will indiscriminately import all images and videos on your phone's storage (user images, anyway--not sure about system images). It might be faster to do this and then browse through the images using Windows Explorer, compared to searching directly on the phone.

Hello and thank you for your fast response.... I tried everything you mentioned but unfortunately no sign of the photo. Yes, it's one that I took but no, I stupidly have no backup. The frustrating thing is that it is still on my lock screen so presumably it must be somewhere?
