How do I root the Optimus V.. I don't understand the sticky instructions

I'm a noob on how to do anything with Android (other than how to normally use it..).
I have no idea what the rooting thread says..

Could anyone help out? Maybe point to a link which is really simple, or a one click root for the Lg Optimus V?

I'd also like to know if there is a good Gingerbread rom which works with the Optimus V, and instructions on how to flash that on it.. I'm really clueless on all this..

Thanks.. but how do I use it to root? How do I put it on my phone?

And then how would I use it to put a ROM on my phone?

Not to sound like a dick, but read the directions. If you dont understand something search google. Yes we as a community are here to help. But if you dont or cant understand basic terminal commands you shouldnt be trying to root your phone.

I cant stress enough to read read read. Take a week or so and read the same thing a couple times. Then if you are still having trouble you should ask specific questions.

Or he can just use ROMTools, which just does EVERYTHING. No offense OP, but if you can't understand the instructions...you shouldn't be doing this.
