How do I save document to microSD card on Galaxy Tab 4?

When I try to save a word document that I have created on the Tablet to a microSD card, it tells me I do not have permission to save to this. What's going on? I'm not trying to save an app to the microSD -- just the document that I created.

This is the problem with SD cards and Android. For Kitkat (4.4) and Lollipop (5.0), there was a huge feature regression that took away the rights of many apps to write to the SD card. This is apparently being remedied with 5.1.1 and 6.0.

Look no further for Google's "war on SD cards" than the fact that last year's Nexus phones contain no SD card slot.
