So I have tried to send videos to my friends, and also a recorded screen video and it looks really bad. I heard that its because of the carriers have a limit and its compressed. Is there any way to get around that? I mean what's the point of being able to record a screen to show a friend if they can't even see it?

Use the 'share' function, then the "Link Sharing" app. It will send a link to the full res video.

Otherwise, use a cloud service and upload/share the video from there.

I would upload to YouTube as an unlisted video (so it's not going to show up in a search), then message that link to your contacts.

Facebook messenger usually have decent quality. The video had to be a certain length though

I use Signal as my default sms app. If others use it you can send without compression. Unfortunately, not many people I know use it, so most messages default to regular sms/mms. It's a great app though. It has all the features of Messaging apps (read receipts, encryption, high quality mms, voice/video calls, international messaging, disappearing messages, desktop use, etc) I've been trying to get more people on it because it's so similar to iMessage.

I will do that. Thanks!

When you say a cloud service..what do you mean?

I wish we had something like that, but more for android like I message

That's the thing. It works just like iMessage for Android. If the other user also uses Signal it gives all the features of iMessage. If the user doesn't it defaults to SMS/MMS just like iMessage would if the other user didn't use an iPhone. The trick is talking other people into using it.

I'm using ONEDRIVE and share instead of sending file directly. This will work regardless of carrier.

I use Dropbox, but Box, OneDrive, Google Drive, ShareFile, etc. - any cloud storage that let's you share files (which, as far as I know, all of them do).

But if you do that, doesn't that mean they have access to all the stuff that you have? or just what you send them originally?

Does this work with imessages?

With most if not all cloud storage, you can send them a link to just that file, you can make a folder and share that folder, drop as many files as you want, can make it so they get notified when new files are added, etc., etc.

In your situation, I would (as a Dropbox user) use the 'file transfer' function - sends a direct download link. They never know or see where the file resides.

If you share large video files frequently, and youtube doesnt suit your use, try vimeo.
