AC Question

How do I get my home screen on my Nexus 6 to auto-rotate to landscape mode. Auto rotate is correct in settings but my home screen will not display in landscape the same as my Nexus 7. Only media, browsers, programs, etc. will auto rotate and not the home screen.

You will need a 3rd party launcher such as Nova. Google Now launcher will not do this.

Not true. In the beta version of GNL, all you need to do is press and hold the home screen, hit the settings gear on the lower right and under Home Screen move the slider for Allow Rotation to the right to enable. Not sure if it has been added to the 'stable' version yet.

Considering 99.99999999999999999% of people aren't using the beta version any more, it IS true.

Thank you, that does work.

Listen buddy, the latest official version of GNL does NOT support home screen landscape. OK genius? I don't know what you're trying to prove.

No reason to insult. I'm just pointing out that there is a version of GNL that allows home screen rotation. It doesn't matter how many are using it. Anyone can join the beta group and use it. It is mileading to say there is no way to do it when clearly you can. People come here for answers, not half truths.

OK oh great one. I bow down to you. Secondly, I never said there was no way to do it. Read my answer to the OP. I suggested that they use another launcher such as Nova. I never said there were no other avenues. Don't make this something it's not. But then again, people like you will try and twist things to appear right at all costs.

Feel better after flexing your online muscle?

You said that GNL will not do this. I said it can.

A couple of corrections. I mistakenly said it was the GNL beta that enabled home screen rotation. It was actually the Google App beta that did.

The other correction is that this is now part of the stable release. Provided you have the most up-to-date version of the Google App from the Play Store and are using the GNL you can enable it as I described above. I checked last night on my wife's Nexus 5, and the option was there. She is not part of the beta.

Thumbs up on this - been looking for it for a while. Of course, the next question is.... is there a way to have the ambient display rotated as well (it still stays in portrait mode regardless of orientation, even when the home screen is properly switching)?

I don't think there is. They would have to change the lockscreen to allow rotation. I used third party lockscreens to achieve this in the past, and they didn;t work well. I think it's probably something they want to keep the way it is for consistency. I could be wrong about that.

The official version of GNL now supports home screen rotation as described in this post
