How do I stop Google cards!

How do I stop Google cards from popping up in my notification drawer? I switched launchers to get away from those but they are still annoying me. I already use a different app for weather updates and don't need Google's un precise weather updates or them telling me how to get home from work when I'm already at home...
My phone is a Verizon Moto g play
Running marshmallow 6.0.1
Using ZENUI launcher.

Welcome to Android Central! Open your Google app, tap Menu>Settings>Your Feed, and make adjustments there. You can turn off notifications completely, or turn off specific notifications.
