How do I stop NOTE from making highlight videos

Yesterday, I had a busy day with my Note. It was my beautiful little niece's birthday party, so I shot one photo after another . In the morning, I had a little notification telling me that the gallery app had made a sort of highlight compilation of all my photos. I can't find any option to turn that off. I don't even use the gallery app in the first place (use quickpic instead).

Can somebody tell me how to disable that annoying "feature?"

Are you sure it's the Gallery doing it? Mine doesn't... BUT Google Photos does. Are you uploading your pictures to Google Photos for back up? If so, then there is a highlights 'video' that's created (it's more of a slideshow that you can import into a video) automagically from pictures from the same date/place. You can turn off the notification of this in the Google Photos app by disabling 'Assistant Cards'.

If you have the Samsung Movie Maker app, I believe that might also try to suggest automatic video creations from similar pictures/dates/places, BUT if I recall correctly, it doesn't do anything without your input first. And there should be a setting to turn that off in the Movie Maker app itself.

Thanks for posting this! I've all ready downloaded and tried it. Great tip!

I generally found your comments in that earlier thread to be hugely helpful.

No, it is the gallery app. the notification I get is from that app.

My note 5 does the same thing.
It's irritating and I want to remove this option.

Which carrier are you using? I've taken a few videos and more than a few pictures and so far I haven't gotten any of those! I do remember them on the Note 4 but I could swear they were coming from the Video Editor app, and you could turn those off...

I'm using a T-Mobile Note 5

I'm on Verizon, and I don't have google photos either (or at least I didn't, just downloaded it yesterday).

It is definitely coming from the Gallery app, not the video editor app. There is a pull down notification. It is not a video either, its a montage of photos. As far as I can see, it only happens on those days when I am shooting a lot of photos with the phone - like at my gorgeous little niece's bday on the weekend. Following JanShim's helpful advice above, I have downloaded the describe app and hope that will fix the problem.

Yep, the Gallery app creates it using the Highlight Video thingee. I figured no need for an additional slideshow type app (yes, I have such a need) if I could find what my Note was using to create those highlight videos. I personally like that my phone makes little slide shows of the amazing Hawaiian sunrise photos I shot earlier that day. It's interesting to see which particular images are selected as well as my phone's choice of transitions & background music to present its interpretation of my life like that. I mean, think about it, it's not like your device can read you or know its relevance or what the things you're shooting mean to you, yet it takes on the the impossible task of creating a little something that might convey a feeling meaningful to you. Imagine if, over time, those slideshows became more and more accurate in its meaningfuless to you. Given your Note 5 is likely the one you spend the most time with, that would be freaking eerie, no?
