You can also swipe the edge of your hand across the screen from right to left (or presumably left to right).

In my case I try to brush some dust off the screen while watching a movie. I have quite the collection of screen captures.

Where does it save it to?

They appear to be saved in Internal Memory

/storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Screenshots

or in shorthand, in the Pictures folder.
