Transferring gallery photo(only) from S6 Edge to PC

I have a S6 edge and a PC running Windows 7.

Goal: When plugging the phone into my PC it will downloads all the pictures in the “Gallery”(only) to a designated folder of my choosing via Windows 7’s “import pictures and video”.

I have not been able to accomplish this simple task. When I plug my phone in to my PC it usually says there are no new pictures (when there actually are new pictures). If I open the “Gallery” and then plug the phone in to the PC, it then precedes to scan the phone’s entire drive for new pictures. This takes a while it does get the photos from the “Gallery” along with tons of unwanted photos scattered throughout the phone’s drive.

Is there any way to direct Windows “import pictures and videos” to a specific folder(DCIM/Camera)? This worked extremely effectively with iPhone 5, but I’m thinking it can’t be done with the S6. It was super simple; just plug it in and presto, done. I’m hoping someone here will show me the light.

Do have to use a 3rd party app to accomplish this with the S6? If so, that’s lame, but app suggestions are welcome.

Re: Transferring gallery photo(only) from S6 Edge to PC

Welcome to Android Central! The Windows "Import Photos and Videos" function is not very useful, because it imports every single image file including thumbnails and cached images saved by apps and the browser. The best way to transfer your photos is to plug in via USB, open Windows Explorer on the computer, and open the device there. Look for the /DCIM/Camera directory, then select which files to copy to your hard drive, and drag and drop. I've always found that pretty straightforward, but I usually don't have a ton of photos to select from (since I back them up regularly).

Mine is a Samsung Note Edge and I am trying to transfer my photos to my Samsung PC. This is the first time with this device but with other Samsungs I had before just plugging in the phone to PC and opening the device in the Computer was simple. Now... my cell is not found in the Computer!!!! I plugged in in all the usb ports in the PC and nothing!! Please help!!!

the easiest solution I have found is to use google photos which has cloud storage. I have it set to backup on wifi and does so very quickly. From there I can visit my photos from my laptop/desktop and choose which photos to download which is also very quick. No cables, no programs just simple
