Welcome to Android Central! It'll be difficult, if you didn't have those contacts associated with your Google account. If they are associated with Google, then they sync with your Google Contacts in the cloud automatically, which is why I always recommend doing so. Saving contacts to the local Phone account puts you at risk for losing all of that information if something happens to the phone. Those contacts aren't in a discrete file for you to copy, either--they're in an SQLite database located in a system folder, which you can't access unless you root the phone. If the screen is broken, you can't root the phone.
