How do I transfer my phone service to an inactive phone using sim card

I took my sim card out of my lg stylo and put it in my Samsung galaxy amp prime but the phone has no service even tho the sim card is active

Does the Amp have the same radio bands as the Stylo? If not, it won't work on that carrier. (If the phone takes the card, and the phone isn't SIM-unlocked, it probably does have.) I'd take it to the carrier and ask for help.

Welcome to Android Central! Also, which carrier do you have? If it's Verizon or Sprint, you usually have to contact the carrier so that they can properly provision the phone.
