Actually, I do kind of agree with you. I think I rarely benefit from auto rotation and have sometimes gone for long periods with it turned off, because of the annoyance of when it tries to auto rotate when I don't want it to auto rotate. However, always then also end-up cursing at some point later when I physically rotate the phone/tablet to landscape for some purpose and then have to manually turn it back on to get the screen to rotate. Auto rotate is one of those blessings and curses things, in my opinion. I am always reminded of that movie scene from that trailer of I am not sure what the movie was, where they are fighting with the phone/tablet because it keeps auto rotating wrongly.Gross, why would anyone have that turned on....

Yes Samsung. You must mean some Bixby routines?Do you have a Samsung device? I created a routine that turns auto rotate on when I open certain apps, youtube for example, so it's only on when I would actually need it and my screen doesn't turn sideways when I'm trying to send a message while lying down lol.

Starting with Android 12, there's an option to use Face Detection to determine if the screen should be auto-rotated. It uses the front-facing camera to determine which way your face is oriented, and therefore which way you probably want the screen oriented. In other words, if you were lying on your side in bed and looking at your phone, it would keep the screen in portrait orientation, rather than flip to landscape.

The only slightly tricky thing to get to the option is that you have to go to Settings>Display and tap the words "Auto-rotate screen", not the toggle, in order to get to the Face Detection option.
That doesn't seem to be a thing in OneUI.
I prefer my way anyway haha
unfortunately I only have Google and Samsung devices that run Android 12 or higher. I can't think of any reason that they would leave it out... I'm sure they have a reason, it just probably isn't a very good one lol
These are for Samsung rotation and home screen rotation the face was to keep phone on them you have your regular android tilt the device slightly a small phone icon will appear to tap to rotateStarting with Android 12, there's an option to use Face Detection to determine if the screen should be auto-rotated. Wait, you don't see it on your Pixel?
Nah, it's there on my Pixel (if I can stave off the bugs long enough to enable it lol). I just meant I'd like to see which way some of the "also ran" brands went with it.
Do you have this enabled normally? does it impact battery?
