How do I turn off Google maps

I close Google maps but it is still running. How to Stop it altogether please

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean that Google Maps is using an excess amount of battery even after you've exited? Or that it's still open in RAM? The latter is normal. Android prefers to keep RAM mostly full, so it will automatically open apps to keep RAM occupied. If it needs more RAM, it'll close an app that hasn't been used recently to make room. Just because an app is open in RAM doesn't mean it's using battery or impacting performance. If you're not having any problems, just leave it alone--this isn't like Windows, where you do want to completely close programs you're not using.
