How do I turn off repeating alert?

I'm receiving a reminder alert every couple of minutes. I can only get it to stop if I open and view all emails and texts. If I get a new message the alert starts again.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7

Open Settings and search for Notification Reminder. Turn it off.
