how do i turn screen on when i get new notification?

On Iphone the screen would turn on briefly when a new email, text or phone call came through. Any way to turn this feature on?

I honestly don't see the point of it though with this phone.

Actually both worked. I do wish that when the screen turned on thou that it would say what the notification was
