How do I turn the phone sideways during phone calls?

My Z1 has a cracked top of the screen and doesn't let me use numbers 1, 2 or 3 on the keypad whilst on the phone. Is there anyway of turning the screen or getting an on screen keyboard app to help? It's impossible to sort through my voicemails or any numbers that require using those digits to select options. Help!

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried installing any of the numerous alternative dialer apps available on Google Play? Maybe one of them has the number pad positioned more optimally for your screen.
