An 832 MHz ARMv6 CPU and 384 MB RAM isn't going to run anything later than 2.3.x. If you could flash 4.4 to it (you probably can't - I doubt that anyone's written one for that particular phone), it wouldn't run, it wouldn't even creep. You'd turn it on and have to come back tomorrow to see the logo screen.

Phones are good for about 2 years. Flagship phones may still be good after 3, or even 4, if you don't ask much of them. But the cheaper Gingerbread phones are currently useless other than as phones (voice and text) and music players.
