What do I have to do to update my Thunderbolt?
I have never updated it and I'm scared it will delete all my apps, my root, and my Cyanogenmod.
If someone can send me a guide or tutorial on how to install an update on my Thunderbolt without it deleting anything.
My phone's current version is 2.3.7

Thanks for all the help.

Are you talking updating cm7 or back to a stock ROM?

what are you running now? we have to know what you are updating from?

Updating my whole phone in general.
I heard the update is for better changing when going from 3g to 4g.

That's either a cm7(I don't know what version you are running) or a radio update, I would start by updating your radio, to the most current version compatible with your ROM. You need to look at what thread your ROM came from and find what radio is compatible with your ROM. For a good cm7 I recommend thundershed, can be found http://rootzwiki.com/topic/13354-cust-thundershed-v15-cm72-ics-ish-march-31st/ there. But you will want wipe your phone before flashing. Either way you will want to back up your contacts and make a nandroid.

Titanium backup is good for backing up apps and app data. I ran an export of my contacts and a sync too. I also use SMS backup and restore for texts. Then make a backupcof your system with clockwork. Once you have your backups, install the new ROM but clear cache and dalvik before install. This way you can go back if you're not happy or restore if you are.
