How do I upgrade my nexus 5 android version.

Hi,
I did factory reset and I the phone is giving me a hard time.
First I want to upgrade to the latest android version.

When I go to settings - about phone - Android Version - it says keylimepie.
a. Which version is it ? is it 4.4?
b. when I go to settings - about phone - system updates I get "Yout system is up to date"
is it?

(I get a lot of "unfortunately google play services has stopped" error after the factory reset)

Your phone is probably giving you a hard time because it's imaginary.

When you go to About Phone the Android version will be listed as a number not "keylimepie".

Also no phone has had a keylimepie version....ever.

You either installed a bogus rom, or someone hacked your phone. There is no keylimepie version.

That's a fishy story. He bought it second hand (used) and it was constantly crashing and had that build, from the seller, before he did anything to it.

Does not sound like a genuine device.
