How do I use my Android without a touch screen?

I'm using an Odroid C1 with Android 4.4.2 as a media centre. it is attached to the TV with HDMI and has a wireless USB keyboard/mouse. No touch screen. Most applications let you navigate down a list with the cursor keys, ... but somw don't!

How do I scroll a list (swipe) using only a keyboard and mouse? At the moment I'm using a compact keyboard with inbuilt trackpad.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you scroll by swiping up and down with two fingers, like on most laptop touchpads?
