How do updates work on top apps if using Phone Clone?

So I'm yet to jump on the P40 Pro but am getting closer to making the decision. Its a big move for me because I love Huawei devices but not having GMS slightly throws me off.

Having seen everyone talk about how easy it is to get all their apps. I've noticed one way is using Phone Clone.

So if I use phone Clone to transfer all my apps, how do some of those apps get updated later on?

I know if its through app gallery they will update as normal

Like you said if done through app gallery thats as normal but if you do it through another source personally I'd recommend petal search

A) its the easiest way to search different sources for apps
B) it'll inform you when you need to update certain apps you download this way as they wont auto update I believe

So through Petal Search, ill get the notification that there's a new version but will have to manually update?

Ive seen a few updates flashing up in Petal Search but it looks like this still needs some fine tuning. Ive found the easiest way is to have APK Pure installed then the updates flash up there, you still need to click the Install button when it finishes downloading so its not the smoothest experience just yet but its not bad at all

Apk pure seems to be fine when i've used it in different devices in the past. I think some apps update automatically but not all so if you are worries about an update go back into Apk pure and searc for the app you want to update and update manually.

To be honest with you though most update anyway i've never had to do a manual update.

I use Petal Search to find the Apps cos I think it's the most reliable way of knowing they'll work. Sometimes I find an App isn't in Petal Search so I go to APKPure and it works but not always.

It looks like Petal Search doesn't yet do a great job of updating Apps so that's why I go into APKPure. Tap the dots in the top right and it shows the Apps needing updates. Just go to APKPure website and it lets you download their store

I'm glad I looked for more posts like mine, I am also looking to potentially get the P40PRo (plus would be too big for my hands). Tonnes of good info in here, especially around Petal Search, how does it work exactly? Is it just another app?

I just downloaded it from the app gallery and it can sit as an app or a wisdget, ive put it on as a widget cus it looks cool. Haha

That's good to know then, ill make note of this because ill surely forget. I hope Huawei makes the process easier in the future
