hadn't gotten as far as asking this yet. thank you for doing it. I couldn't get it to work, but it could have been just in the moment. no download mode either. again, could be just me. need to ask over on xda, but I suspect we both know the answer by now.On my S7E, it was holding down the volume up, home key and then power key, and it would boot into recovery (power off first). But I can't figure out how to do that on my Note 8. I've done some searching, but no joy so far.
Anyone figure it out yet?
With the phone off...hold volume up and the bixby button down...then press power and hold all 3 until the little Android guy appears, release all 3 and wait until it says no command. then tap power.

Yep, that's the method, thanks. Just don't have the Bixby button remapped with Bixby Button Remapper, or it won't work. Works okay if you remap with the bxAction app, though.

Thank you Ryan... I've been looking everywhere, trying to clear my cache since loading all my apps and getting the phone set up! You're a lifesaver!!!
Holding the volume down + power button for 30 seconds brought up the bootloader on my VZW N8 that was soft bricked.
I wonder if that is something Bixby could be programmed to do for those of us with hand problems. Haven't done more than play around a little with Bixby but it has the potential to do a lot of things on the phone that are annoying or time consuming to do, and to automate a lot of them. But it takes time to figure all that out and two weeks in I haven't had a chance yet. But thanks for posting the method to do it by hand.
I found it tricky but doable if I turned my device so that volume button/bixby is on the bottom and the power button is on the top (landscape) and used my thumbs for the volume button/bixby and my right/left index finger to hold the power. ymmv
this was the easiest way for me to do it. the bixby button in the mix instead of home button does present a challenge, and it's awkward to be sure, but if the button were remapped to do this any accidental touches would reboot the phone into recovery, would it not? so it would need a confirmation dialog and that would be annoying too. all just thoughts.
