How do you add custom ringtones for text messaging?

I added custom ringtones for calling, but they won't transfer over to my text ringtones. :/

Help?

Create a folder called 'notifications' and drop the sound in there

Also, you could use WhoIsIt from the app market. With this you can customize everything from ring tones to messages, notifications and emails. It takes a bit of customization but you can even customize all of the above for individual contacts. Give it a go
