Question How do you disable background usage of the camera?

Why does camera require unrestricted background usage?

I'm under the app battery usage setting (Pixel 6a), I noticed it is draining a chunk of the battery even though I rarely use it. I am unable disable it. Is there a software that will force it to remain off?

Also, does this mean that camera capture is being transferred without consent? I usually keep camera disabled.

I believe the unrestricted background usage permission allows the Camera app to open immediately when needed. It would not be transferring any images without consent.

When you say it's draining a chunk of battery, do you mean that the battery is draining unusually quickly? Or does battery life seem normal, but you just see a significant percentage of battery that the Camera is responsible for? If you're not doing much else with the phone, then the relative proportion of battery use by system apps like the Camera will increase.
